Once A Beauty

She wears her shame like a diamond ring
Her sins a strand of pearls
Lovers she had a great many
For she was no longer a little girl
Her lips tainted red from blood and gin
Scotch fills up her veins, it burns bitterly form within
Once she lay upon silk sheets, wearing satin night gowns
Now she lays up on the filth of discard card board dreams
While inside her head a little girl screams
Until she goes insane as youth flees her trembling reach
Outside a broken old woman sits in fading memories
Dusting cocaine up on her hollow cheek powder up her nose
Sunken black eyes of despair sucking on her woes
These are her reflections in a broken dirty mirror
Staring with death in her eyes back out at her
Falling down somewhere along life's path
Down into broken whiskey glass
Scars of love gone bad
Toss in a few years of abuse
Now living on alcohol and poorly whisper excuse
Beauty gone running off with her youth
sorry racing off
