Dragons are the real?

“Dee? Dragons are they real? A huge question from such a tiny soul, the waves rolled in and out as a genteel breeze blew softly through their hair. No one around but the two of them, not another soul insight well unless one wishes to count the 3 seabirds and a few buzzing bees, or the dozens of tiny crabs that played in and out of the surf.  But Dee took her time to answer this, needing a while to ponder the question, giving herself time to answer it, without truly lying that is. Dee’s mind flew backwards a many a great years ago, to when she was as young as Tabby and Dragons were as real as the bees that buzzed around her head right now.

A time of great happiness where there were dragon weddings and parties of plenty, a time of dragon dances and races. A time when human did not hunt them for their skins and try to steal their vast treasures. When even elves and dwarfs were their friends and did not try to enslave them and ride them like beast of burden into wars they were force to fight other creatures once befriended by man, then turn upon hated for what they were. And after the great wars what few remained were cage and force to combat other dragons or were chained force to fight for their lives against well-armed men, so man could feel superior to them all, almost driving the dragons to nearly extinction.

So bad was it that dragons took too hiding among man, as one of them for they held great powers, but long ago promised the great ones not to show this power to any lower beings or risk losing this power. But perhaps if they had, they would all have survived granted they would have lost their powers but at least they would still be alive right? Tabby’s young mind soon lost interest in the answer to his question, for old Dee was once again lost to her old thoughts. Shrugging his shoulders he went back to building a strange castle, the one from his dreams, the castle that laid high among the clouds. He look over to where Dee sat sleeping again, she always fell asleep so easily these days. But he just figures that it was due to the fact Dee was about to give birth. He knew many of the human women too, grew tired when their bellies were big and round like Dee’s. Tabby looks out towards the sea and sighs, he wishes the baby inside Dee would hurry up and come, so they  could move on from this place, it was dull here and he was always bored wishing so badly to have someone to play with.

Returning to the sand castle, he moves his tiny hands over the sides, smoothing them in places where the walls were smooth and making spots rough, where they were rough in his dreams. ((Soon Tabby Soon)) Tabby’s head snaps up as he looks over at Dee. But she was still in a deep sleep. “Who said that?” he whispers fearing whatever it was, could hear the fear in his small voice. He really wanting so badly for someone to play with, but knew also that there were dangerous creatures, that lurk about in the rocks by the sea and Dee always sat by rocks. Then the sound of a tiny giggle carries on the wind ((Silly they do not come out in the light of day)) Tabby tilted his head towards Dee’s swollen belly and then slowly scoots closer pressing his ear on the large round belly, he whispers “Hello are you talking to me?” smiling as the babe inside Dee begins to talk back, telling him all about the castle in the clouds. but warning him to be careful, for soon danger would come and he would be one against many. That is until she was born.
